Hypnosis is described as a state of consciousness in which a person becomes very receptive to the suggestions given by the hypnotist. A popular use of hypnosis is to recover forgotten memories and to induce behavioral modifications through suggestions. It is a state of relaxation that can be compared to a state of trance. It involves a hypnotist (also called hypnotherapist) who uses verbal directions, suggestions, and mental images. Most people feel calm and relaxed when under hypnosis. It is very important to note that you do not lose control of yourself nor sleep during hypnosis. Hypnosis can help you take control and change certain behaviors that you wish to eliminate. It also helps to deal with emotions, as well as many other situations. For examples of applications of hypnosis, please visit the page "Applications".
The two terms can be confusing, as they are often times used interchangeably. The main reason why I use the term "hypnosis" on my website is for legal reasons, as the term "hypnotherapy" is reserved in some countries, for doctors, because of the term "therapy". In France, individuals can refer to themselves as hypnotherapists, even if they are not doctors. Beside that legal reason, the two terms refer to the same state of mind and type of consultation. Unless you are diagnosed with certain forms of mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, a hypnotherapist would provide the same service as a hypnotist.
Yes, performing online sessions of hypnosis work just as well as doing them offline. The only difference is that it requires a reliable internet connection. For some people, doing online sessions might be more comfortable as they do not have to meet someone in person and might feel more safe and comfortable. Also, during online hypnosis, you do not need to activate your camera if you do not want to, which is another advantage. However, some other persons might prefer offline sessions. Both online and offline sessions work the same and have the same effects.
No, you are not asleep. What can happen though is that you could potentially fall asleep due to relaxation. In this situation, while you would still be potentially subject to suggestions, the hypnosis would be much less effective, if not entirely ineffective. Don't worry, though, as the hypnotist regularly makes sure that you are not asleep. The reason why people are usually asked to close their eyes is mainly to be focused and not be bothered by their surroundings.
No, it is not dangerous and a hypnotist cannot force you to do anything that you do not want to do. There is something that is generally called the "hidden observer", and this "hidden observer" is the part of the consciousness that stays fully aware and capable of judging the situation. If something is said that you judge dangerous or inappropriate, the hidden observer would come forward and you would naturally get out of the state of hypnosis. The only risks associated with hypnosis are mild symptoms such as dizziness or nausea, but those are rare.
Yes, you remember everything of what has been said during the hypnosis. There might be some parts that you remember less clearly, but not things that your mind considers as important and beneficial for you.
Yes, but for some people, it might take longer than for others to successfully be hypnotized. This is partly due to, for example, concerns about being hypnotized, overthinking, etc. If one is motivated and have the will to be hypnotized, it will most likely work on the first attempt. Conversely, if one is not willing to be hypnotized, it will not work, because from the beginning, the person won't be receptive.
It is difficult to give a specific number of sessions that will be needed. Some people might only need one, while some people might need 5 sessions, or more. It depends on various factors, such as the severity of the symptoms, and the complexity of the situation... If you do not see big results after 1 session, do not be discouraged, as this is perfectly normal. Everybody experiences it differently.
Unfortunately, the success of the sessions of hypnosis cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many variables that cannot always be controlled. Everybody will have a unique experience. For some people, after 1 session, they might feel big changes, and even won't need a second session. For others, more sessions are needed, but the results can yet not be guaranteed. However, if you are very motivated, willing to be hypnotized, and at ease with the hypnotist, the chances of success are greatly improved.
Usually, at least a week or two is recommended in between sessions, in order not to rush things and to let the work we are doing together have its effects. It is better not to wait more than a month, though, in order not to forget what we did before and what we worked on during the previous session.
What you say during the sessions will not be shared with anyone. What we say and talk about during the sessions is kept private, and you do not have to worry about it being disclosed to anyone.
We will be communicating through this website via a secure, dedicated videoconferencing page. In order to connect and join the consultation, you simply have to click on the link that is contained in the confirmation email and reminder emails. For more information, please refer to the page "The sessions", under the menu "Hypnosis"
In the event of internet issues, if it cannot be resolved in time, we will simply set another appointment time at a further date. Please note that this does not affect the hypnosis, and that in the event of an internet issue where we would be unable to hear each other, it would not have any adverse effect on you, and you would naturally get out of hypnosis after realizing that we are not communicating anymore.
Yes, you can request a refund if you cancel at least 48 hours before your appointment date. Please note that some fees may apply by the payment processing company.
